A federal mandate that sets minimum staffing requirements for nursing homes was recently finalized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
This is welcome news because the biggest complaint that I have heard about nursing homes is that all (or most) of them struggle with staffing shortages, impacting quality patient care. As long as there is adequate funding to ensure staffing and a good amount of well-trained nurses/aides looking for employment, then I am happy with the result. Time will tell.
