Is a Life Estate the same as putting your house in an irrevocable trust to protect it from Medicaid? Does a revocable trust also protect your house from Medicaid?
MY RESPONSE:
Both a life estate and an irrevocable trust will protect your house from Medicaid. A revocable trust will not!
However, a life estate and an irrevocable trust are two different animals and each has its pros and cons, with a life estate having many more cons if you were to ever sell the house during your lifetime.
