How does Trump’s Medicaid bill affect my irrevocable Medicaid trust as far as going into a nursing home after the 5-year grace period?
MY RESPONSE:
The “Big Beautiful Bill” will have no direct impact on the asset protection provided by your trust. But what about indirectly? The answer is we do not know what the future will be. The bill reduces the money that is flowing to the states to fund their Medicaid programs. In turn, New York, to help balance its budget, may cut back on its Medicaid expenditures. How this will play out is unknown. Stay tuned.
