CLIENT QUESTIONS:

Good Day,

1. Can Suffolk County Medicaid force applicants to take a life expectancy RMD on a Roth IRA?

MY RESPONSE: YES

2. Can Suffolk County Medicaid force applicants to use a non-IRS RMD table on an IRA (regular or
Roth)?

MY RESPONSE: YES

3. Can NYC Medicaid be more lenient than Suffolk County?

MY RESPONSE: YES

The bottom line is that in Nassau and Suffolk Counties you must take out RMDs based upon Medicaid’s life expectancy chart, from all types of retirement plans (IRA, ROTH IRA, 401K, 403B, etc).
